Biographical Sketch

Fangwei Ye received B.S in Physics from Zhejiang Normal University in 2000, and Ph.D in Optics from University of Science and Technology of China in 2005. From 2005 to 2008 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at ICFO (The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, Spain). He was a Senior Research Fellow at CNS (Center of Nonlinear Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, China) from 2008-2010. In 2010, he joined in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China. Currently he is a Distinguished Research Fellow as well as a PhD advisor in Physics Department of SJTU. His research interests focus on understanding the nonlinear effects pertaining to the propagation of electromagnetic waves in nonlinear optical media, with particular interests in the physical mechanisms leading to the soliton formation in optical media, all-optical soliton control, and the stability analysis of wave propagation in nonlinear media. He is currently working on the nonlinear propagation dynamics and localization characteristics of light in plasmonic systems, with a focus on the potential applications to active photonic nanodevices that operate at deep subwavlength scale, including ultrafast all-optical switches, ultra-compact plasmonic sensors, and light concentrators. He is an author of more than 40 publications in internal journals, conference and workshop proceedings.
